Rubamin’s Visionary Step Towards a Sustainable Future on Gujarat Foundation Day
May 1, 2025
On 1st May 2025, Rubamin Pvt. Limited reached an exciting new milestone in its commitment to advancing India's sustainable future. In a grand ceremony held on the occasion of Gujarat Foundation Day, the company proudly unveiled its state-of-the-art Lithium-ion Battery Recycling Facility, a critical initiative aimed at ensuring a cleaner, greener future through the extraction and recycling of vital critical metals.
A Facility Designed for the Future
The inauguration was attended by Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel, the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, who expressed his support for the company’s ambitious goals in his inaugural speech. His presence highlighted the significance of this project, not only for Rubamin but for India’s energy transition as a whole.
A standout feature of this new facility is its Industry 4.0 Smart Factory Digital Control Center, driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The facility utilizes the latest in automation technology, ensuring both efficiency and environmental responsibility in recycling critical materials from spent batteries. This innovative approach exemplifies how cutting-edge technology can contribute to sustainability.
Strategic Investments for Growth and Development
As part of its commitment to leading the way in critical minerals and sustainable technology, Rubamin announced a substantial ?600 crore investment aimed at further enhancing its capabilities.
The investment will focus on two key areas:
Expansion of Vanadium Extraction: As the demand for energy storage solutions rises, the need for vanadium—the essential metal for advanced battery technologies—continues to grow.
Creation of Rubamin’s Global Capability Centre (GCC): This ambitious project will serve as a hub for R&D, innovation and manufacturing excellence in the field of critical metals, rare earth elements and battery materials. The GCC will also employ over 100 scientists who will focus on creating new processes for the sustainable production of these vital materials.
Gratitude to Our Partners
The successful realization of this facility would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of various governmental and environmental agencies. Rubamin extends its sincere gratitude to the Department of Science & Technology, Gujarat (DST), Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI), Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Panchmahals District Administration for their ongoing guidance and support throughout this journey.
A Pioneering Step Towards a Green Future
This milestone is not just a celebration of a new facility; it marks the beginning of a new era for India’s recycling industry. By leading the way in critical metal recycling, Rubamin is not only advancing its own growth but also contributing to India’s larger goal of self-reliance and a sustainable future.
As the world moves toward greener, cleaner energy solutions, Rubamin remains at the forefront of this transformation. Together, we’re creating a future that’s not only smart and innovative but also sustainable.
We look forward to continuing our journey with this new chapter and pushing the boundaries of innovation in the sustainable energy sector.
