Concerns about automobile pollution have lead to emission standards evolving and becoming more stringent. Fuel quality has a direct bearing on emissions and hence these standards are driving improvement in fuel quality. However, depleting oil resources and falling quality of sweet crude means that refining has to deal with more contaminants like Sulfur.
Zinc Oxide absorbents are used for desulfurization of natural gas, light naphta, and other hydrocarbon feed stocks. They are also used for H2S scavenging and removal of light mercaptans. The desulfurization is performed at different temperature ranges to target different impurities in the feed stock.
Rubamin has been able to tailor make Zinc Oxide for catalyst companies with high surface area for better scrubbing of Sulfur. We do so with unique physio-chemical properties customized to their patented production processes. ZYNK® High Surface Area Zinc Oxide is a direct result of Rubamin’s constant investment into research and development and early identification of market trends. The special chemical precipitation process and controlled thermal treatment of zinc oxide precipitate helps achieve the unique blend of purity, bulk density and surface area. These properties are required for high activity, scrubbing efficiency, longer life and the reactor volume required by catalyst companies and their refining customers.
Rubamin ZYNK® High Surface Area Zinc Oxide is delivered in multiple surface areas ranging from 35 m2/g to over 60m2/g with balancing bulk density ranging from 0.4 to as high as 0.8. This range of Surface Areas and Bulk Density is provided while maintaining the high purity required for reactions during the desulfurization process.
It is no surprise that customers aggregating almost 70% of the world’s Zinc Oxide Adsorbents are working with Rubamin ZYNK® to provide catalysts that meet the challenges of advanced emission standards and low-quality feed stocks.
